Flowing north through the heart of the Alaska Range, the Nenana River is the most popular whitewater river in Alaska.Â Enjoy thisÂ ADVENTUROUSÂ raft trip suitable for even familiesÂ with older children (+10 years old). Mankind has yet to come up with a more comfortable or less strenuous method of low impact wilderness travel.

It's a real adventure! 11 miles of Class III/IV whitewater down the Nenana Gorge. Guide controls the raft with oars. All you have to do is hang on and enjoy the ride. 3-4 hours start to finish. We provide all the special gear needed (PFD, drysuit, river shoes). We go rain or shine.

What to Wear:
You should dress for the weather. Remember to wear long pants, long sleeves, at least 2 layers on the top, and socks.
Bring an extra pair of socks with you when you check in. When you take off your shoes to get dressed into your drysuit, you can put the extra pair of socks into your shoes, which will meet you at the end of the trip.
Remember, also, that everything you wear will go inside the drysuit, so it’s best not to wear a top layer that has a hood because hoods can be uncomfortable inside the drysuit. If it’s chilly, you may want to bring a hat. We launch our trips rain or shine; in fact, there’s nothing better to do at the Park when it’s raining than go rafting.
Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund

DEPARTURE & RETURN

We are super easy to find â€“ we are on the northeast side of the bridge at Milepost 238, Parks Highway. Plenty of parking. If you are arriving by train or motorcoach, we will contact you to arrange a meeting place and time.

We had a wonderful time, on a wonderful day, with a wonderful guide!! A definite must do! Next time we are back this way, we will bounce the River again!

great raft guide. went this company since it was family owned. We did the Denali double. Wilderness trip first, then short break back at base camp (eat packed dinner), then gorge paddle trip.

We did white water rafting with Mudflap over the glacial waters of the Nenana River in July 2021. It was my daughters best activity of all the other adventurous stuff we did. The team was well informed, entertaining, safe and overall fun!! The views were stunning. We got soaked (happily) and it was awesome!! We were asked to wear multiple layers under the dry suits, and those were important. Please carry long socks and an extra pair if possible. Highly recommend rafting with this team.

This was a great trip. Our guide was Mudflap and he made the trip a lot of fun. Got to experience some nice white water without feeling that we were going to fall out of the boat. Would certainly recommend the experience.

We had a great time with our family of 3- including our ten-year old. She was a bit apprehensive about rafting, but our guide put her totally at ease. Mudflap is quite the character and she really enjoyed him. The rapids were just enough to make it fun and get knocked around a bit, but nothing too much- and we all felt completely at ease. So much fun- I laughed the whole way. Just wished the company had a photographer to snap a photo at some of the best rapids!

Our guide, mudflap was awesome! Never laughed so hard. We all had the best time. Felt safe, learned about the river and mountains, and were entertained. Highly recommend

I took my 10 and 13 year old. We felt very safe and prepared. Our guide was amazing, Mudflap. The scenery was beautiful the rapids were fun. The whole experience was awesome. Would definitely do it again. 10 out of 10!

This is the best company to book for rafting. I’ve been to Alaska twice now and done two different tours with them, and I would do it again next time. If you’re lucky enough to get the legend Mudflap, you’ll have the experience of a lifetime. He is Alaska to me now! This group is professional and prepared, but also incredibly enthusiastic and happy to take you out on the water. This time I had Sick Rick as a guide, he was great. His stories alone would have been worth the trip even if we were sitting at a table. I’ve done 6 mile and Nenana now, so for those who are debating here’s my experience. Nenana is thrilling but felt safer, less rocks around, more control going through the water. More downtime between to enjoy the scenery. No one came close to falling out, but the rapids were still big and quite fun going pretty high up and down on them. Six mile is an intense thrill ride, more technical and required a lot of paddling to get around certain rough spots. My boat happened to flip and all of us fell out and had to be pulled back in. It was scary but I always knew the guides were in control and they had a backup person to help pull us out ready and waiting. I would do Nenana again.
